I full heartedly recommend Jenn Wood to support your family.

Before I met Jenn, I had never heard of a Doula. It was only hours before I went into labour that my sister put me on the phone with Jenn. She told me what to expect & what signs to look for when going into labour. Little did I know I would go into labour soon after. I called Jenn at 6:45pm & she was in my home by 7:00pm. Even though my husband & I had taken the pre-natal course, we do not feel we could have gone through labour without her.  Her expertise in the field is only surpassed by her genuine caring & support for me, my husband, & my baby. My only regret is that I didn't know about Jenn earlier. I would have used her throughout my pregnancy. Of course, Jenn's care doesn't cease after the baby is born; she continues to advise, support & care months later.

Having Jenn there was very reassuring & gave me a piece of mind; both were important in contributing to my positive experience.

I know without a doubt that my labour & birthing experience would not have gone so smoothly if not for Jenn.

My name is Kristina, I met Jenn months ago while I was still pregnant with my now 5 month old son at Best Babies. I had no support at all for my delivery room until I met Jenn.

Jenn I find was very supportive through my pregnancy and delivery, I owe her alot. She made my delivery of my son very memorable. Jenn went to doctors appointments with me and an ultrasound appointment too. I didn't feel alone at all through the rest of my pregnancy and she will make you feel the same way too.

Jenn is very caring and supportive in all avenues. If I ever got pregnant again I would have Jenn in my delivery room again and would refer her to anyone who was or is planning on being pregnant. You would be making the right choice choosing Jenn to be part of your life and in the experience of a life time of having a baby. Getting her to help with bringing a brand new life in the world is the best decision I and you will ever make.

I will be forever grateful to Jenn Wood for I and my kids will always thank her and love her, she is now part of my new family and always will be.

Yours truly,
Kristina, Edward and Kieran

I first learned of a Doula through Tracy Thompson, the District Health Nurse. When I asked the reason why I would need a Doula, I was told a Doula provides support for the birthing mom, and also helps create a sense of safety and excitement in giving birth. I was told to contact the Mothering Touch if I was interested in getting a Doula.

I am so grateful for meeting Jan Cheatle, who also referred me to Jenn Wood. I had not only one Doula, but two! They both offered continuous emotional and physical support. I feel they made my delivery easy through the support they provided at my home and at the hospital. Jenn made me aware I was having contractions and thought I would go into labour on the evening of December 19 th, 2006 when they were at my home. I found it hard to believe because I felt fine and my due date was still a week away! Both Jenn and Jan made me feel at ease by asking me what I was feeling and what to expect. Also rubbing the labour ease on my belly and to go for a walk whenever I had a contraction.

I also learned a great deal from the Prenatal classes I took through Camosun College, and through the Best Babies Program at Blanshard Community Centre. I feel both of these programs helped me to learn what was happening with my body and what to expect in preparation for birth. Moreover, I learned a great deal by talking to others in these programs and what to expect of the hospital practices. I also learned a great deal through various books regarding pregnancy.

I feel  Jenn offered both emotional and physical support. Jenn made me feel at ease by being with me when I was admitted to the hospital. My delivery was easy through the supportJenn provided including to take long breaths, and to relax during contractions. They told me if I took short breaths, I could pass out. My labour was only 58 minutes and I feel its because I had two Doula's who offered their emotional support! This was my first baby and they helped make it a positive experience for me! They helped bring my son into the world and for that, I am extremely grateful

When I found out that I was pregnant, I was elated, however the whole idea of labor and delivery really had me quite anxious and indeed fearful. In an effort to 'prepare' myself for what was to come, I asked my friends and family what their labor & delivery was like. It was through my inquiries that I learned about Doula services and how much support they can provide throughout pregnancy and most importantly to me, on the 'big day'. So, in my 7th month, through a bit of digging around I was referred to Jenn, who made me feel much more comfortable and confident right from our very first phone call, all the way through to now.

Since I am a single parent and my family and friends mostly live out of town, I really appreciated the 'above and beyond' support and attention that Jenn provided me through home visits, phone calls and email. Jenn is such a caring and thoughtful person and always had my best interest at heart. She provided high quality support, and was very accommodating to my birth plan. On the 'big day', January 30, 2007, I called Jenn in the early morning and she sensed I was in active labor and came over as soon as possible whereupon she got me up and walking. Within an hour we were on the way to the hospital and low and behold I was half way dilated already! All the way through labor, Jenn was so calming and reassuring, and never left my side....I can't imagine what the experience would have been like without her there to assist me in embracing my inner strength to deliver my beautiful, healthy baby girl. When Jenn came for a follow up visit she showed me the big black and blue bruise I gave her 3 weeks earlier on her hip where I squeezed her so hard (thinking I had her hand I guess!), and she just smiled saying that it was her pleasure to be a part of my birthing experience. I send out my heartfelt appreciation to Jenn and I feel that a bond for life has been created.
